Description & Route
In mid-2010, a long time friend of mine, found an affordable Westsail 32 on the tiny island of Palau, near the Philippines. We flew up out of Melbourne, Brisbane and then into Palau to inspect the boat. He decided to buy it, and four weeks later after returning to Melbourne, we were off again to Palau to make the delivery back to Darwin.
We spent around a week provisioning and working on the boat in the hot sun, before departing on what turned out to be quite an eventful trip, fraught with a lot of motoring due to lack of wind, engine problems, and a few midnight piracy scares. We made the voyage in around three weeks, covering approximately 1200nm.
