The latter is very common in the Caribbean .... I guess it is just years of living in Africa but I get obsessive about mosquitoes in those areas ... I recommend a good supply of Gin & (Quinine) Tonic ! And it's always worth trying to keep the mosquitoes away. It'll be good to be back at sea and away from the land based health hazards. As it can recur and you really wouldn't want to have an attack in the middle of dealing with bad weather in the Atlantic I hope you can find a clinic to get checked for it before you leave. As it is a cyclical disease it can be hard to diagnose .... the fever occurs during the breeding cycle of the parasites. Best wishes and safe journey from one who is following your adventure.
